Hi! My name is Tan Jing Kai. I am a year two Electrical and Electronic Engineering student from Taylor's University Lakeside Campus in Malaysia. We are currently crowdfunding for a mobile application ... See More
We are a group of year 2 and year 3 engineering students who are setting up a crowdfunding campaign for our assignment for the module Business Skills for Engineers.
We are going to create a bus schedule related phone mobile application for student’s and people who uses the Taylor’s Bus at Taylor’s University where the mobile application can help the users to track the location of the bus in real-time via GPS tracking system so that users can prepare themselves whenever the bus is near or on the way to destination. A notification will alert the user when the bus the user plans to take is near to the user waiting area. We aim to raise fund to provide a service for the people who uses the Taylors’ Bus daily or frequently. The mobile application proposed is to be done when the crowdfunding campaign ends.
The focus for this crowdfunding project is to collect enough funds to purchase the tools and equipment needed to construct the mobile application proposed. The main tools needed are GPS tracking system to put on each of the bus and maintenance fees to help maintain the workability of the mobile application. From the previous complaints made by students in Taylor’s Confession Page on Facebook, most of the complaints were saying that sometimes the bus doesn’t follow the scheduled time, or the bus would be late than expected time. By reviewing the complaints made, the team decided that if we could improve the efficiency and service of the bus system at Taylor's it would provide convenience for the people who board the Taylor’s Bus. Therefore, the team decided to create this mobile application.
As all the team members are from an engineering background, we could only design the user interface of the mobile application, which is why the team needed someone from the IT sector to code the mobile application for us. Therefore, in this stage, we needed pledgers to fund us to create the mobile application, the overall design of the mobile application was designed as shown below, the full design of the mobile application can be viewed in the video above.
Budget Breakdown
RM 500 is appointed to be raised with the crowdfunding movement , approximately RM 250 will be used for writing the app and run diagnose , the rest of the RM 250 for server maintenance and required man power.

The challenge we expected to face in this project is to code the mobile application, but we are going to find people who knows mobile application coding to code the application for us.
